Q: What’s in the welcome package?
A: The welcome package is full of helpful information for you to learn more about the Rochester community. We include maps, recycling and ordinance information and over $800 in gift certificates and coupons from local businesses in Rochester. There are even some wonderful products from businesses to sample.

Q: Do you mail the packet?
A: No. We come to your house or apartment or we can meet at a mutually convenient location. The package is huge and full of lots of goodies (too much to mail!). Normally we try to schedule a time to stop by and go over the welcome package with you. This usually takes about 30 minutes. We also take time to answer any questions you have about Rochester. (See what other newcomers have said about our service.)

Q: Do you visit in the evening or weekends?
A: Yes, we are very flexible in the times we visit with newcomers.

Q: How much does the welcome package cost?
A: It is free. (And we don’t sell anything! Except what a great community Rochester is!)

Q: How long has Rochester Greeters been greeting newcomers to Rochester?
A: We have been greeting newcomers since 1997 – over 19 years!!

Q: Who owns Rochester Greeters?
A: Rochester Greeters is locally owned and operated by Kathy Johnson. It is not affiliated with any franchise. Kathy was born and raised in Rochester, but she is familiar with the challenges of moving and relocating to a new city. She lived in Moorhead and Minneapolis, Minnesota; and has worked and lived in Texas, California and Michigan. She relocated back to Rochester to raise her children close to family. After working in the professional world as an accountant, she had a desire to help others, and support and promote her hometown of Rochester. She remembers the challenges of moving and wants to help ease your transition to the Rochester community.
